In honor of Veteran's Day tomorrow, I wanted to thank all of those in our nation's history who have served to create, protect, and defend my freedom (especially my Grandma, Papa, Uncle, and fallen classmates), and those currently dedicating their life, sacrificing many precious personal things, and being willing to heed the call no matter where that may lead them.
Despite the vast amount of "knowledge" I learned as a freshman and was told would stay with me for the rest of my life, really only one quote has, "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." I am proud to know so many people who still believe this country is worth fighting for.
