We are at what my family fondly calls "the cabin in the woods." We have actually never been to the same cabin twice, but the motivation and atmosphere are always the same: good food and good friends/family. This evening, as a scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner wraps up, a few wafting snowflakes, the wonderful aroma of a wood-burning fire, and the anticipation of three different kinds of pie make for a memorable holiday!
What makes tonight more special than any scent, taste, or picture perfect scene are all of the reasons we have to be thankful this year. To ensure we take note of these important blessings from the past year, we have a turkey that hangs on our wall from 1 November until Thanksgiving. Each day we write what we are thankful for on a feather and put it in the turkey. During Thanksgiving dinner we read a month of thankfulness. This year was especially fun as little boy #1 and #2 were able to actively participate.
A few highlights from 2015: a brother-in-law in remission from stage 4 cancer, another year of life for little boy #1, family, a new home and a safe cross-country adventure, grace and mercy from Jesus, and from little boy #2....Christmas! Our year is not yet over, and from my home to yours, I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and look forward to some yummy Taste Tuesday's and more as we enter the Christmas season.
